Christmas was celebrated at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Israel

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Israel celebrated the Christmas Day and the dawn of the New Year on the 01st January 2016 at the Embassy premises. A cross- section of the Sri Lankan community in Israel along with the Embassy staff were present at the event.

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Selvaraj highlighted the importance of Christmas, the national unity, and religious harmony in Sri Lanka.

Rev. Father Yohan Fernando invoked blessings and conducted the religious ceremony. Mr. M.R.C.B. Ekanayake, First Secretary (E &W) delivered the vote of thanks and Christmas carols were sung by the gathering.

The evening was concluded with a reception and exchange of greetings to each other. The gathering appreciated the initiative taken by the Embassy to celebrate the festival to maintain the tradition of multiculturalism in Sri Lanka.
